Juventus Head Coach Igor Tudor Claims Team Is On The Right Path Following Roma Draw

Following a 1-1 draw against Roma, Juventus head coach Igor Tudor expressed confidence in his team's progress and mentality. The match showcased improvements since his arrival.

Juventus head coach Igor Tudor expressed optimism about his team's progress after a 1-1 draw against Roma. This was Tudor's second match since replacing Thiago Motta, following a 1-0 victory over Genoa. Juventus started strong, with Manuel Locatelli scoring before half-time. However, Eldor Shomurodov equalised for Roma in the second half.

Tudor appreciated the first-half performance and acknowledged Roma's adjustments in the latter half. "I really liked the first half, we pushed well," he told DAZN. Despite changes by Roma, Tudor felt his team showed more desire to win. He believes they are on the right track both physically and mentally.

Before Tudor's arrival, Juventus had suffered four defeats in six matches, including exits from major tournaments like the Champions League and Coppa Italia. The recent results under Tudor—a win and a draw—indicate positive changes for the team known as the Old Lady.

Reflecting on his brief tenure so far, Tudor remarked on the quality of their goal against Roma and emphasised the importance of maintaining an attacking mindset without being vulnerable to counter-attacks. "We scored a great goal; it's always the quality of the players that decides," said Tudor.

Tudor has deep ties with Juventus, having played for them from 1998 to 2007 and served as assistant to Andrea Pirlo during the 2020-21 season. He shared insights into his current role: "I've been here for 10 days; the emotion subsides after a while and you have to think about work."

He noted that while coaching might seem enjoyable from an outsider's perspective, it involves intense focus on details with little time for enjoyment. "You care, you think about all the details and there is little time to enjoy," he added.

The draw against Roma has boosted confidence within the squad as they adapt to Tudor's strategies. The team aims to build on this momentum in upcoming matches under his guidance.
