The 21-year-old Croatian travelled to Turin last month to complete a medical after the clubs agreed a fee reported to be in the region of €25million but the deal has reportedly fallen after it emerged that the Winger has a heart problem.

Schick underwent some primary medical tests last month with Juventus, but the heart problems were not reported then. However, the most recent medical tests have reportedly shown a heart problem for which Juventus have apparently pulled the plug to stop the transfer immediately.

The Italian club announced the news on their website and released a statement which read:“UC Sampdoria and Juventus FC both announce that it was mutually agreed not to finalise the transfer of player Patrik Schick."

However, after the disappointed medical Sampdoria owner, Massimo Ferrero slammed the possibilities of an alleged heart issue halted the transfer and suggested it is just "farce."

"What they found is equivalent to a cold! If Juventus want to back out, we'll sell him to one of the other four clubs that are ready to buy him," Ferrero was quoted as saying to Il Secolo XIX.

"I think he'll eventually go to Juventus, otherwise we'll take him back and add a nice 'maybe,' given his release clause has now expired and we can sell him for not just €30m but possibly €40-50m."

Schick scored 11 goals and three assists in 32 games of his first season in Serie A after joining from Sparta Prague for a fee of €4 million last year and will now return to his club Sampdoria with an uncertain future.

However, despite the setback, Juventus continue to be active in the transfer market. They recently acquired the service of Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich last week on loan and agreed to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for €10 million.

The Old Lady also have reportedly targetted Lazio's Keita Balde Diao and Fiorentina's winger Federico Bernardeschi as the new recruitment in the coming weeks.
