Juventus Eye Emiliano Martinez, Alexander Sorloth And Randal Kolo Muani Amidst Squad Overhaul

Juventus are preparing a major rebuild for 2026-27, with chief executive Giovanni Carnevali confirming interest in Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, Atletico Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth and a potential return for Randal Kolo Muani. The club are reshaping the squad after missing the Champions League, as they finished sixth in Serie A last season.

The Bianconeri have chosen to keep Luciano Spalletti as head coach for the 2026-27 campaign, despite the disappointing finish. Juventus only managed one win from their final five league matches, and Dusan Vlahovic has left as a free agent, leaving clear gaps in key positions that Carnevali and the recruitment team are trying to cover.

Juventus have not lifted the Serie A trophy since 2019-20, when Maurizio Sarri was in charge and Cristiano Ronaldo scored 31 league goals. That success completed a run of nine straight titles. Since then, their best result has been third place in 2024-25, and they have ended outside the top four on two occasions, underlining the urgency behind these transfer plans.

Carnevali has explained that Juventus are looking across the market rather than relying on a single solution in attack. When asked about Alexander Sorloth and other forwards, Carnevali said: "The doors aren't only open for Sorloth, but also for other players." Juventus are looking for options who can provide goals immediately while fitting Spalletti's tactical approach.

One of the most discussed Juventus transfer targets is Emiliano Martinez, fresh from helping Aston Villa win the Europa League. Martinez is also chasing a second World Cup title after Argentina's dramatic comeback victory over Egypt in the last 16 on Tuesday. Carnevali told Sky Sports Italia that Juventus are among several clubs following the situation very closely.

Carnevali stressed that Juventus must be patient over a possible move for Martinez, saying: "We will have to wait. Martinez interests us, but he's also an interesting profile for a lot of other teams. There will be lots of opportunities. There are players who are already rated highly and those who we should keep a close eye on." Juventus are weighing that interest against other priorities.

Juventus are also tracking Sorloth after a strong year with Atletico Madrid. Sorloth scored 20 goals in 54 matches across all competitions last season, excluding the Club World Cup, despite starting only 26 of those games. That total was the joint-highest for Atletico Madrid, level with Julian Alvarez, which explains why Juventus see Sorloth as a serious candidate to replace Vlahovic.

Another Juventus transfer target is Kolo Muani, who had a productive loan spell in Turin from Paris Saint-Germain in 2025, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances. After leaving Juventus, Kolo Muani spent a temporary stint at Tottenham, where the forward made 41 appearances but scored only five goals, as Tottenham narrowly escaped a humiliating relegation battle in the Premier League.

Carnevali says talks for Kolo Muani are complicated by the gap between Juventus and the selling club over numbers. Carnevali explained: "For Kolo Muani, the demands have not been lowered, and we have not increased the proposal, but we are working hard on it. I wouldn't just focus on him. If there is a big gap [in valuation], we have to make the right assessments. We're trying to do the best thing."

The club have a busy schedule ahead as they shape the squad and continue negotiations on these Juventus transfer targets.

Key Juventus transfer targets for this window can be summarised as follows:

Player Current club Position 2025-26 key stats Previous Juventus spell
Emiliano Martinez Aston Villa Goalkeeper Europa League winner; World Cup contender with Argentina None
Alexander Sorloth Atletico Madrid Forward 20 goals in 54 games; 26 starts; joint-top scorer with Julian Alvarez None
Randal Kolo Muani Paris Saint-Germain Forward 5 goals in 41 games on loan at Tottenham Loan in 2025; 10 goals in 22 games

Juventus are therefore juggling several major targets at once, with Martinez, Sorloth and Kolo Muani all under strong consideration. The club are trying to move back towards regular Scudetto challenges and Champions League qualification, and the outcome of these transfer talks is likely to shape how competitive Juventus can be in 2026-27.
