East Bengal vs Hyderabad FC Preview
Both East Bengal and Hyderabad FC will have extra motivation to go better in the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 as league title-winning chances look bleak at the moment. More so for Hyderabad FC, who are dead last in the points table (4 points in 11 games) and are yet to win a game this season. East Bengal, on the other hand, are eighth on the points table with 11 points in 10 games.
However, at Kalinga Super Cup 2024, they start with a clean slate but there will be key players missing on both ends. Hyderabad FC will miss the attacking prowess of Jonathan Moya after he left the club to join Liga Deportiva Alajuelense. This means Carlos Martinez is likely to take upon the striker's role while Joe Knowles has misfired.
Along with that, left-back Vignesh D has left the club on loan to Odisha FC till the end of the season. The Nizams will crucially miss the likes of Nikhil Poojary who has been called up for the national team for the upcoming AFC Asia Cup 2024.
East Bengal FC will be missing out on star winger Naorem Mahesh Singh and Lalchunnunga for similar reasons. Midfielder Mobashir Rahman has also left the club on loan to Chennaiyin FC. Coach Carles Cuadrat is likely to utilise the likes PV Vishnu, Jesin TK in their absence and may use further foreigners with up to six overseas players allowed in the line-up.
