Kalinga Super Cup 2024: East Bengal Player Ratings After Kolkata Derby - Cleiton Silva Among Star Performers

After mostly being dominated by their opponents for the last few seasons, East Bengal look to be back on track. In the last 6 months, East Bengal have now won 2 Kolkata derby matches.

In this Kalinga Super Cup 2024 Kolkata derby, the Red and Gold Brigade dominated against their counterparts. Most of the squad put out a brilliant display that the East Bengal supporters will remember for some time.

The best player on the field including the opponent's squad was Cleiton Silva. The Brazilian started the comeback for the Red and Gold Brigade with a goal in the 24th minute. He then sealed the deal by scoring their 3rd goal for them in the 80th minute.

Souvik Chakraborty in the midfield comes 2nd to him in ratings. He not only helped in the final third, but was also successful in stopping Hugo Boumous from going up the field for the entirety of the match.

Nandhakumar Sekar was another player effective in the final third for East Bengal in this Kalinga Super Cup 2024 match. He was positioned perfectly to score their side's 2nd goal when Ravi Bahadur Rana made a fatal mistake in the Mariners' box.

It was a handball from Maher Hijazi that resulted in Mohun Bagan gaining a penalty. However, he was still effective in the backline for the most part of the match. Additionally, as the Mariners had to retake their penalty a 2nd time, they failed to score from the spot.

Nishu Kumar on the right-back and Jose Antonio Pardo on the left-back positions were brilliant throughout the match. Mohammad Rakip and Borja Herrera might not have performed on par with them, but they were also good.

The only two players from the East Bengal squad that were least impressive were Javier Siverio and Prabhsukhan Gill. Vishnu Puthiya Valappill, Ajay Chhetri, and Sayan Banerjee came in too late to leave their mark in the game.
