The Kalinga Super Cup stands as India's premier domestic football cup competition, bringing together top clubs from the Indian Super League (ISL) and the I-League.
Established in 2018 by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) as a successor to the Federation Cup, the tournament was rebranded as the Kalinga Super Cup in 2024, reflecting its association with the Government of Odisha and its consistent hosting at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

The tournament was not held from 2020 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling conflicts with the Indian national team's fixtures.
Initially, the Super Cup followed a straightforward 16-team knockout format. However, since 2023, it has adopted a group + knockout format.
But in the upcoming 2025 edition, the tournament will see once again the old 16-team knockout competition.

The inaugural edition in 2018 saw Bengaluru FC emerge victorious with a dominant 4-1 win over East Bengal in the final, powered by a Sunil Chhetri hat-trick.
In 2019, FC Goa clinched their first major national trophy by defeating Chennaiyin FC 2-1 in a closely contested final. The tournament was then not held between 2020 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling challenges involving the ISL and AFC tournaments.
The competition returned in 2023, now officially called the Kalinga Super Cup, and Odisha FC made the most of their home advantage by defeating Bengaluru FC 2-1 in the final to win their first-ever major trophy.
The 2024 edition witnessed a dramatic final where East Bengal FC edged out defending champions Odisha FC 3-2, claiming their maiden Kalinga Super Cup title and marking a return to glory for the Kolkata giants.
Beyond the prestigious trophy, the champions of the Kalinga Super Cup earn a spot in the qualifiers of the AFC Champions League 2, Asia's second-tier continental club competition. If the winning team failed to qualify for that tournament, they will straightaway play the group stage of the AFC Challenge League.
