Kalvin Phillips Joins Sheffield United On Loan From Manchester City For 2025-26

Kalvin Phillips has moved on loan from Manchester City to Sheffield United for the 2025-26 season. The midfielder has rarely featured for City this term, following a debut season in which he helped secure the treble. At United, he strengthens a midfield that aims for promotion alongside new signing Joe Rothwell.

Kalvin Phillips has completed a loan move from Manchester City to Sheffield United, staying at Bramall Lane for the rest of the 2025-26 season. The England midfielder joins to strengthen a Sheffield United squad aiming to stabilise in the Championship.

Sheffield United sit 11 points behind the promotion spots and hold a seven-point cushion above the relegation places. The club have also added midfielder Joe Rothwell on an 18-month contract, underlining a plan to reshape the squad for the run-in.

Kalvin Phillips Loan to Sheffield United Signed

Phillips arrives after another quiet campaign with Manchester City, where opportunities have been limited. This season, Phillips has featured only once for Pep Guardiola, coming off the bench in the EFL Cup. That appearance came in the third-round win against Huddersfield.

Since leaving Leeds United for Manchester City in July 2022, Phillips has made 32 appearances in all competitions. During the 2022-23 season, Phillips was part of the squad that secured the treble. That included Manchester City’s first Champions League title, achieved during Phillips’ debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium.

This latest agreement becomes Phillips’ third loan spell since signing for Manchester City. The midfielder has already spent previous temporary stints at West Ham and Ipswich Town after joining the Premier League champions. Another move now offers Phillips regular minutes in a demanding Championship environment.

The deal provides Sheffield United with proven top-flight experience at a key stage of the season. For Phillips, the switch offers a chance to rebuild rhythm, contribute in central midfield, and influence a club balancing promotion hopes with the need to avoid a relegation battle.
