Harry Kane is currently unaware of any ongoing discussions about Thomas Tuchel potentially becoming the England manager. However, he praised his former head coach. Kane had a remarkable debut season at Bayern Munich under Tuchel before the 51-year-old was replaced by Vincent Kompany. Reports suggest Tuchel might soon take over as England's permanent manager.
The England captain refrained from discussing Tuchel's abilities in detail due to the ongoing talks but expressed admiration for his past experience with him. "Until it's announced obviously I can't really comment, but we have to wait and see," Kane told Sky Sports in Germany. "Obviously, I know Thomas well from last year. [He is a] fantastic coach, fantastic person."

Kane achieved a record-breaking 36 goals in just 32 Bundesliga matches under Tuchel, setting a new benchmark for debut seasons in the league. Despite this success, Bayern Munich parted ways with Tuchel after finishing third behind Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart. His overall winning percentage at Bayern was 60.7%, having won 37 out of 61 games.
Tuchel's cup competition expertise might be what attracts England to him. He led Paris Saint-Germain to their first Champions League final in 2020 and won the tournament with Chelsea the following year. In total, he has secured 40 Champions League victories in 67 matches, boasting a winning ratio of 59.7%.
Kane could soon reunite with Tuchel if he becomes England's manager. The striker mentioned that the Football Association would likely contact him once more information is available about the appointment. Kane looks forward to possibly working with his former boss again at the 2026 World Cup.
Tuchel's winning percentage surpasses that of all but one England manager at major tournaments like the World Cup and Euros; Alf Ramsey had a higher rate of 66.7%. If appointed, it remains to be seen whether Tuchel can replicate his success on the international stage.
Despite being dismissed from Bayern Munich, Tuchel maintained an impressive track record across various clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and PSG, where he achieved winning percentages of 62.6% and 74.8%, respectively.
Kane expressed confidence that those involved in making decisions at the Football Association would reach out when they have more clarity on the situation regarding Tuchel's potential appointment as England manager.
