Kane Praises Son Heung-min As One Of The Best Partnerships In Premier League History

Harry Kane commended his former teammate Son Heung-min for their exceptional partnership at Tottenham, which set a Premier League record. Following Son's move to Los Angeles, Kane reflected on their successful decade together.

Harry Kane expressed admiration for Son Heung-min after Bayern Munich's 4-0 victory over Tottenham. Kane opened the scoring in the 12th minute at Allianz Arena but missed a penalty. Kingsley Coman, Lennart Karl, and Jonah Kusi-Asare added goals in the second half, securing Bayern's win. This match marked Tottenham's first without Son, who moved to Los Angeles for an MLS record fee of £20 million.

Son Heung-min announced his departure from Tottenham last Saturday during a press conference in Seoul. The announcement came before their pre-season friendly against Newcastle United, where he received a guard of honour from fans. Son joined Spurs in 2015 and had a successful decade-long career, scoring 173 goals and providing 101 assists across all competitions.

Kane Celebrates Son's Premier League Legacy

During his time at Tottenham, Son scored 127 goals and provided 27 assists in 333 Premier League matches. He also captained the team to their first trophy in 17 years by defeating Manchester United in the Europa League final last May. His contributions were pivotal to the club's success over the years.

Kane praised Son after the match, describing their partnership as one of the best in Premier League history. "Massive congratulations to him and his career at Tottenham," Kane said. "First and foremost, a great person. I've got to know him really well as a friend, and just how humble he is and how good a guy he is."

The duo formed one of the league's most lethal partnerships, combining for a Premier League-record 47 goals between 2015 and 2023. Kane himself netted 280 goals in 435 appearances for Spurs across nine seasons. Their connection on the field was remarkable and contributed significantly to Tottenham's attacking prowess.

Kane continued his praise for Son by saying, "I think as a player, you know, we had one of the best partnerships in Premier League history. We just had that connection that we loved." He added that it was fitting for Son to end his Tottenham career by lifting a trophy with the team last year.

As Son embarks on a new chapter with Los Angeles, Kane wished him well: "It's a great way for his Tottenham career to end... now it's a new chapter for him; he'll go to LA, and I wish him all the best." Kane hopes they can reunite soon to catch up on old times.
