Harry Kane Worth EUR 250 Million, Bayern Chief Hoeness Points To Isak Transfer

Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness claims Harry Kane's value has reached EUR 250 million, comparing him with Alexander Isak's transfer fee. The discussion follows Kane's prolific form for Bayern and Isak's challenging start at Liverpool, situating Kane as a top-valued striker in European football.

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness believes Bayern Munich paid too little for Harry Kane when the fee is compared with Liverpool’s outlay on Alexander Isak. Kane moved from Tottenham to Bayern Munich in August 2023 for around 100m euros and has since become central to the Bundesliga champions’ attack.

The England captain has delivered heavily in front of goal for Bayern Munich in all competitions. Kane has scored 133 goals for the club, with 51 of those coming this season, and also struck during the Club World Cup last summer. The forward appears on course to drive Bayern Munich towards another Bundesliga crown.

Harry Kane worth EUR 250m, says Hoeness

Hoeness argued that Kane’s current market value has risen far beyond the original transfer fee. The former Bayern Munich president pointed at Liverpool’s record move for Alexander Isak as his main reference. Isak joined Liverpool from Newcastle United for a British-record fee believed to be about 125m euros in September.

Isak arrived at Anfield with a strong scoring record from Newcastle United. The Sweden international registered 62 goals in 109 games in all competitions for the Magpies. However, Isak’s first season at Liverpool has been disrupted by fitness problems and a serious injury that needed surgery before the turn of the year.

Liverpool’s new striker managed only three goals in 16 appearances before suffering a fibula fracture in December. The injury required an operation and halted Isak’s start at Liverpool. Hoeness referenced this context when weighing the money paid for Isak against what Bayern Munich had spent on Kane in 2023.

Hoeness accepted that Bayern Munich took a financial gamble when agreeing the 100m euros fee with Tottenham. However, Hoeness stressed that Kane’s performances since arriving in Germany have made the investment look favourable. Hoeness stated that Kane’s value would now be significantly higher than the original transfer sum agreed by Bayern Munich.

"It was a bit of a risk [spending 100m on him in 2023]," Hoeness told Kicker, via iMiaSanMia. "But he's played incredibly well for us in recent years. If we consider the price-performance ratio, I'd say 150m. But then you see that Alexander Isak of Liverpool cost 150m. If he's worth 150m, then Harry is worth 250m."

Kane is also chasing a major milestone in the Bundesliga this season. The forward has scored 31 goals in 26 league matches so far and averages a goal every 66.7 minutes. Kane is closing in on Robert Lewandowski’s single-season Bundesliga record of 41 goals, which came during the 2020-21 campaign.

Lewandowski set that mark while playing for Bayern Munich, scoring 41 times in only 29 league appearances. The Poland striker averaged a goal every 60 minutes during that season. Kane’s current strike rate leaves a realistic chance of overtaking that figure, adding further weight to Hoeness’ view of the England captain’s value.
