Carnival-like atmosphere in Kochi as Kerala Blasters start the ISL 2023-24 with a win over Bengaluru FC, who were at fault for making defensive errors in the loss. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu committed howler to let Luna score after Veendorp scored an own goal!

Adrian Luna is awarded the Hero of the match as he scored the all-important second goal and there are huge celebrations at the Kaloor Stadium in Kochi!

The referee blows the final whistle and Kerala Blasters start the season with a 2-1 win over last season fianlists and derby rivals Bengaluru FC!

90+6' Bidysaghar joins play in place of Kwame Peprah in a like-for-like change!

90+1' BENGALURU FC PULL ONE BACK! Curtis Main scores from close range as Moni runs on the counter from left flank and squares it into the box! His pass was deflected but slowed down nicely for Main to slot it into the goal! Meanwhile seven minutes of stoppage time added!
87' Javi cleverly plays a short corner for BFC to leave KBFC defenders surprise. However, they react well to block a shot from outside the box and two attempts right after to avoid any late comeback from their rivals!
85' A threatening move from Curtis Main from the left sees his shot deflected out for a corner! Javi Hernandes floats the corner into the box but KBFC defenders were prepared to clear the ball away from any danger!
83' KBFC fans are celebrating already with winning chants can be heard loud and clear! BFC at the moment are not looking like a side, who are trying to get back in the game!
81' BFC's Javi floats a freekick inside the box after he was fouled on the right by Adrian! The set piece fell to youngster Muni, who disappointingly makes a diving header off target!
80' Aimen is taken off amid loud cheers from the home fans! He is being replaced by Freddy after the winger played an important role in the opening goal
76' The referee calls for a water break as BFC coach Simon Grayson will have an opportunity to talk to his players or make those tactical switches needed to turn the tide around in the last quarter of the game!

72' That mistake sums up the night of Bengaluru FC, who have been too slow with their build-up, allowing KBFC to push them deep in their own half and ultimately concede an embarrassing second goal following an own goal as the first of the night!
69' Howler by Gurpreet Singh as KBFC lead 2-0! Adrian Luna forces the BFC star goalkeeper into mistake as he touches the ball too hard, allowing Luna to shoot the ball into an empty net!
67' KBFC defender found himself through to the goal after a nice build up but his shot was direct to Gurpreet for an easy save!
66' Kerala Blasters goalkeeper makes a diving save as a threatening corner was delivered and headed to the goal after KBFC defenders couldn't clear the loose ball!
63' Bengaluru FC win a corner after a cross from the right flank was headed away! Meanwhile BFC make three changes together as Veendorp,Jovanovic, and Nymgal Bhutia are taken off! Curtis Main, Javi and Parag join the play!
62' The match goes back to being a slugfest as BFC are keeping lion share of possession but are unable to penetrate into the attacking third with all KBFC players back in their own half!
59' A calmly collected save by Sachin as BFC forward Sivasakthi shoots from far after finding no outlet to pass to. A vague attempt by a frustrated forward, who has struggled to be part of this game!
58' Bengaluru FC are trying to get back in the game as they take charge of the possession and patiently try to build from the back but their intensity, or the lack of it, is not worrying KBFC
55' It's official! Bengaluru defender Keziah Veendorp got the last touch of the ball as the corner hit him and went into the goal!

53' KERALA BLASTERS TAKE THE LEAD! It's unclear who had the last touch from the corner by Adrian Luna as the ball hits the post and goes into the net!
Kwame Peprah shoots direct to the goal following a burst of pace into the attacking third by Aiban! He squares the ball to Kwame, who hits the ball on the turn towards the goal with power, forcing Gurpreet to palm it away for a corner!

48' BFC centre-back Ivanovic is injured after collision with his teammate Gurpreet Singh Sandhu! Both of them were alarmed by the threatening overlapping run by Prabir Das, who sent in a cross as the duo went to clear it and collided!
46' KWAME PEPRAH SHOOTS OFF TARGET! KBFC catches BFC on the counter following the restart as Daishuke beats a midfielder before passing it to Kwame, who makes space to shoot from outside the box but was wildly off target!

The second half is all set to begin as players are back on the ground. It's raining again at the Kaloor Stadium!
Both KBFC and BFC have struggled to play as a team in the first half as the lack of coordination among players was evident throughout the first half which was full of misplaced passes. It's clear that the preseason hasn't prepared any of the clubs to make an early challenge for the title in ISL 2023-24!
Plenty to play for in the 2nd half of #KBFCBFC 💪

Both sides have key absentees with Bengaluru FC's captain Sunil Chhetri away on international duties at the Asian Games 2023, where he just scored the winning goal for India against Bangladesh to revive the Blue Tigers' medal chances. KBFC's Rahul KP is also teaming up with Chhetri among key members of the squad for Igor Stimac.
Coming back to the Indian domestic football scene, Kerala Blasters vs Bengaluru FC is considered a high-octane encounter with fans on both sides often involved in spats at the stadium and on social media as well.
Their last head-to-head in ISL was also the most controversial one as Sunil Chhetri scored the all-important goal in extra time. However, Kerala Blasters were not too happy with the circumstances leading to the goal, and soon coach Ivan Vukomanovic led his players out of the field in a walkout. The coach is serving a 10-match ban since then.
For Bengaluru FC, however, the season is much more than just the Derby as they lost out on the title to Mohun Bagan on penalties in last year's final. Both sides have kept their cards close to their chest in the build-up to ISL 2023-24 as they fielded their development players for last month's Durand Cup 2023 in Kolkata.
Both Blasters and Bengaluru FC were placed in the same group and lost out on the knockout berth to I-League outfit Gokulam Kerala. Their head-to-head at the Durand Cup ended 2-2 as Bengaluru FC's young Turks responded well after going down.
Among Kerala Blasters, eyes will be on their new striker Justine Emmanuel, whose threatening pace could be too hot to handle for Bengaluru FC's defense, who let go their star defender Sandesh Jhingan in the summer transfer window. However, it's Adrian Luna, who need to be stop in the midfield if Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and side wish to take all three points from the game in what is expected to be a sell-out crowd in Kochi for the ISL 2023-24 opener!
