Kerala Blasters and Hyderabad FC will resume their ISL season after the two-week international break at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday (November 25).
The two clubs are having contrasting seasons so far as a win or a draw will place hosts Kerala Blasters top of the points table ahead of FC Goa while former champions and two-time ISL shield winners Hyderabad FC are among the bottom dwellers and in hunt of their first win of ISL 2023-24.
Kerala Blasters and Hyderabad FC will rekindle an old rivalry that dates back to the 2021-22 season, when Hyderabad FC won the trophy that year by defeating Ivan Vukomanovic's squad in penalty shootouts in the season finale.
"We always have an obligation to show a little bit more than our opponents, whether we are playing home or away," said Vukomanovic. "Especially when we play at home, we have to show something else, that we are fighting for the logo, and we are fighting for the club, because that's a part of the identity of Kerala."
Hyderabad FC is still looking for their first win of the season as they have lost their last five away games. Their last three games have ended in 1-1 draws, and they can improve these results with a little bit more efficiency and goal-scoring instinct up front. While supporters await the return of a revitalized Hyderabad FC team following the international break, Singto must have had plenty of time to rectify their errors during the halt.
Among all players who have played at least 300 minutes this season, Dimitrios Diamantakos has the second-fastest goal contribution rate with one every 106 minutes in the ISL 2023-24. The Greek forward can score goals with accuracy, but he can also create opportunities for his teammates by providing timely assists.
In the match against Bengaluru FC, Mohammad Yasir of Hyderabad FC displayed striker-like skills by bringing down a long ball and smashing it into the net. As Hyderabad FC searches for solutions to their problems up front, HFC will rely largely on the 25-year-old Indian international to set up and complete goal-scoring plays.
