By MyKhel Staff

Mohun Bagan Super Giant continued their impressive run in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 by securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday. The Mariners held only 33.4% of possession.

Jamie Maclaren emerged as the standout performer of the match, scoring twice to lead Mohun Bagan to victory. His first goal came in the 28th minute, courtesy of a well-timed delivery from Liston Colaco. Maclaren was positioned on the left side of the six-yard box.

Upon getting the ball, he confidently slotted the ball into the high center of the net, showcasing his exceptional finishing skills. Maclaren's influence on the game went beyond his poaching abilities inside the box. Twelve minutes after his opener, he doubled the Mariners' lead with a brilliant strike from distance.

This time, it was Jason Cummings who provided the assist, strategically setting up Maclaren outside the box. Maclaren's precise first touch and composed left-footed finish from range highlighted his versatility as a forward. Cummings' contribution was notable in today's match as well.

He became the third player to register an assist in three or more consecutive matches for Mohun Bagan, following in the footsteps of Dimitrios Petratos and Roy Krishna. Mohun Bagan maintained relentless pressure on Kerala Blasters throughout the contest, pushing forward with intent.

In the 65th minute, they earned a free-kick on the right flank. Following a sequence of blocked attempts from Cummings and Deepak Tangri, Alberto Rodriguez seized the opportunity by slotting the loose ball into the center of the net, securing the third goal for the visitors.

Even with a three-goal cushion, Mohun Bagan continued to attack, highlighting their depth in offensive options. Dimitrios Petratos and Ashique Kuruniyan created additional chances, but the Mariners were unable to add to their tally. Nonetheless, the comprehensive performance emphasized their status as title favorites.

Maclaren's all-around display, including his two goals and near-perfect passing accuracy, earned him the "Key Performer of the Match" title. Mohun Bagan Super Giant will look to maintain their winning momentum when they face Odisha FC on February 23. Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters FC will aim to bounce back against FC Goa on February 22.
