Kerala Blasters vs Shillong Lajong Match Result: Kalinga Super Cup 2024 Group B Round 1 got underway on Wednesday (January 10) with ISL leaders Kerala Blasters defeating Shillong Lajong 3-1 at the Kalinga Stadium Pitch 1 in Bhubaneswar.
Kwame Peprah (15', 27') scored a brace before the half-hour mark as Kerala Blasters put pressure on their I-League rivals in their first-ever encounter at the senior stage. Shillong Lajong did respond with a penalty goal by Renan Paulino in the 30th minute. However, Mohammed Aimen's goal (46') right after halftime killed the game.

Dimitrios Dimantakos and Peprah worked together to create the opening goal for Kerala Blasters in the 15th minute, with the latter hitting the goal. The Greek threw Peprah a lovely through pass after spotting the opening between the two center backs outside the area. The striker from Ghana seized the opportunity to defeat Neithoville Chalieu beneath the bar.
In the 27th minute, Keralites increased their lead, with Peprah scoring once more. Wingback Prabir Das deserves most of the credit for this goal because of his probing runs from the right flank, which frequently caused issues for the Shillong defense. Prabir's cross near the goalmouth this time was precise and clinical. Just in time, Peprah reached out and chested the ball in.
When Shillong's spot kick two minutes later cut the lead, they had a glimmer of hope. Senegal forward Abdou Karim Samb was brought down by Kerala goalkeeper Sachin Suresh inside the box as he attempted to retrieve the ball. Brazilian Renan Paulino de Souza converted the penalty kick with precision, leaving the goalie offside.
Japanese midfielder Daisuke Sakai ran from the right to perfectly float the ball at the goalmouth for Aimen's goal. It was a beautiful move. Aimen arrived just as quickly, but Chalieu should have been a bit more aware of the circumstances.
The second match of the Group B Round 1 takes place later in the evening as NorthEast United FC take on Jamshedpur FC at the Kalinga Stadium main pitch.
