Kevin De Bruyne expressed surprise at not being offered a new contract by Manchester City. The Belgian midfielder, whose contract ends this season, announced his departure from the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola suggested that De Bruyne's recent form and fitness influenced the decision. Despite this, De Bruyne, who turns 34 in June, believes he can still perform at a high level.
De Bruyne remarked on City's decision after their 2-0 victory over Everton, saying, "I have not had any offer the whole year, they just took a decision. I was a bit surprised, but I have to accept it. I still think I can perform at the level I'm showing. But I understand clubs have to make decisions."
Since joining City from Wolfsburg in August 2015, De Bruyne has made 416 appearances across all competitions. He has scored 107 goals and provided 177 assists, contributing to 16 major trophies for the club. Recently, he started four of City's last five matches, including a goal and an assist in their 5-2 win over Crystal Palace.De Bruyne is considering his next career move with options in Major League Soccer and Saudi Arabia. He stated, "I feel like I still have a lot to give. Obviously I know I'm not 25 any more, but I still feel like I can do my job." He is evaluating his options based on sporting and family considerations.

Despite challenges during the match against Everton's strong defence, City managed two late goals to secure victory. De Bruyne acknowledged the difficulty of breaking through Everton's defensive setup but felt satisfied with the team's performance.
