Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor has announced that Khadija Shaw is back in training with the first team. Shaw had missed the League Cup victory over Arsenal on Thursday due to racist and misogynistic abuse she received online. The abuse followed City's 4-3 loss to Arsenal in the Women's Super League last Sunday, prompting the club to report the incident to Greater Manchester Police. Investigations are currently ongoing.
Taylor addressed the situation in a press conference on Friday, confirming Shaw's return to training ahead of Sunday's FA Cup match against Leicester City. He expressed his condemnation of the abuse and emphasized the club's support for Shaw. "Bunny's back with us today. She's okay and trained with the team, which is good, so that's it. I've spoken to her," Taylor stated. He chose not to disclose details of their conversation, stressing that such issues should not be given more attention.

The club has made it clear that discrimination will not be tolerated, either online or in stadiums. "Manchester City were appalled to learn that Khadija Bunny Shaw was subjected to racist and misogynistic abuse following Sunday's fixture. Discrimination of any kind, either in stadiums or online, will not be tolerated and has absolutely no place inside or outside the game."
Shaw's role in City's upcoming fifth-round tie against Leicester City remains uncertain. Despite having scored 86 goals for Manchester City, it is unclear how much she will participate in this crucial match.
Taylor reiterated that there is no place for such behaviour anywhere and it should never be accepted. He assured that Shaw would receive appropriate support from everyone at the club as they navigate this difficult situation together.
