Celtic have announced the return of Kieran Tierney, who has signed a five-year contract after leaving Arsenal. Tierney, who started his career at Celtic Park, joined Arsenal in 2019 but has now committed to the Scottish champions until 2030. His departure from Arsenal was confirmed last week, marking a significant move back to his roots.
Tierney's time at Arsenal saw him make 144 appearances across various competitions, contributing six goals and 14 assists. However, a knee injury during the 2021-22 season affected his standing in the team. He spent the 2023-24 season on loan with Real Sociedad and returned to make 20 appearances for Arsenal in the latter part of the 2024-25 season, mostly as a substitute.

During his initial tenure with Celtic, Tierney played in 170 matches and secured 10 trophies, including three consecutive trebles. Most of these achievements were under Brendan Rodgers' management, who is also back for a second spell at Celtic Park. Tierney expressed his desire for continued success with Celtic and aims to help maintain their top position.
"My ambition is just for Celtic to be as successful as possible, retain our place at the top and continue to win trophies and do well for Celtic," Tierney told the club website. "Everybody's known for a few months and just to be here with the Celtic strip on again just feels amazing."
Reflecting on his time away from home, Tierney shared how living in Spain for a year helped him grow personally and professionally. He learned a new language and adapted to playing in a different league. This experience has shaped him into a more mature individual while maintaining his dedication to giving his best on the field.
Tierney's commitment remains strong as he returns to familiar grounds. He is determined to work hard and contribute positively to Celtic's future successes. His journey reflects both personal growth and professional dedication as he embarks on this new chapter with the club.
