Bayern Munich's Comeback Win Hailed By Coach Kompany In Bundesliga Opener

Bayern Munich, under new head coach Vincent Kompany, showcased remarkable resilience by overturning a deficit to secure a 3-2 victory against Wolfsburg. Key moments included an 82nd-minute winner from Serge Gnabry and a record-setting undefeated streak in Bundesliga openers.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany lauded his team's resilience after their comeback victory against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga opener on Sunday. An 82nd-minute goal from Serge Gnabry secured a 3-2 win, marking a successful start for Kompany, who took over from Thomas Tuchel following last season's third-place finish.

Bayern initially led with Jamal Musiala's 19th-minute goal but faltered early in the second half. They conceded a penalty and made a defensive error, allowing Wolfsburg to take the lead. However, an own goal by Jakub Kaminski and a late strike from Gnabry, assisted by Harry Kane, turned the game around.

With this victory, Bayern Munich extended their unbeaten streak in Bundesliga openers to 13 matches (W11 D2), setting a new record in the league's history.

Kompany Lauds Bayern's Comeback

Kompany reflected on his debut Bundesliga match as a coach: "I enjoyed it, it was my first Bundesliga game as a coach. The first half was dominant, as it should be. We didn't concede any chances. The second half wasn't good at the beginning; we conceded two quick goals. The third point is that our mentality was right at the end, and that's why we won the game."

Joshua Kimmich commented on Bayern's performance: "It was extremely difficult; the pitch was very dry, so the game stalled at times. Perhaps it wasn't always presentable," he said. "But in the end I'm happy that we won it. The mentality was right."

Mistakes are part of football, but how a team responds is crucial. Kompany noted that Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman brought back the right mentality and tempo when they came on. "At the end of the second half, we had a lot of courage to win the game," he added.

Bayern Munich's ability to bounce back from setbacks highlights their strong mentality and determination to succeed under Kompany's leadership.

Their next challenge will be maintaining this momentum throughout the season as they aim for another successful campaign in the Bundesliga.
