Koni De Winter expressed his excitement about joining AC Milan, calling it a dream come true after moving from Genoa. The 23-year-old defender signed a five-year contract with the Rossoneri for a reported €18 million, plus an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses. De Winter is Milan's fourth new signing for the 2024-25 season and is set to reunite with Massimiliano Allegri at San Siro.
De Winter can play both as a centre-back and right-back, showcasing his versatility. Last season, he played a crucial role for Genoa, who finished 13th in Serie A. He won 76 aerial duels, ranking just behind Andrea Pinamonti, Johan Vasquez, and Morten Thorsby for Genoa. Additionally, he scored three goals, making him joint-second top scorer for the team in the league.

The Belgian international will once again work under Massimiliano Allegri, who previously coached him at Juventus. "It was the coach who gave me my professional debut, so he'll always be a big figure for me," De Winter said. He cherishes the memories of his early senior football days and looks forward to collaborating with Allegri again.
AC Milan's domestic campaign kicks off this Sunday against Bari in the Coppa Italia first round. They will then face Cremonese in their Serie A opener on August 23. De Winter aims to make an impact and gain valuable experience while wearing the iconic Milan jersey.
"I cannot describe my emotions; it doesn't seem real. It's really like a dream," De Winter shared on Milan's official YouTube channel. He is eager to perform well and gain more experience at such a prestigious club. Wearing the AC Milan jersey is an honour he intends to cherish fully.
