Ange Postecoglou has announced that Dejan Kulusevski will be sidelined for several months, impacting Tottenham's Europa League final plans. Kulusevski sustained a knee injury during the 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday and was taken off after just 19 minutes. Spurs confirmed his surgery on Wednesday but did not rule him out of the upcoming final against Manchester United in Bilbao.
Postecoglou shared more details before Tottenham's match against Aston Villa on Friday, stating that Kulusevski's absence is expected to last for months. "Obviously disappointing news. Initially we thought it wasn't too serious," he said. "It kind of blew up the day after and we knew there was an issue. He's had the surgery, which will put him out for at least a few months."

This season, Kulusevski has been a key player for Spurs, appearing in 50 matches across all competitions, starting 35 of them. He has accumulated 3,449 minutes on the field, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists. His total of 21 goal involvements is surpassed only by Dominic Solanke with 23, and Son Heung-min and James Maddison with 22 each.
Besides Kulusevski, Tottenham faces additional injury challenges as they prepare for next week's final. Both James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall have also been ruled out due to injuries. These setbacks could significantly affect the team's performance in their crucial match against Manchester United.
The timing of these injuries is particularly challenging as Spurs aim to secure success in the Europa League final. The absence of key players like Kulusevski may require strategic adjustments from Postecoglou to maintain competitiveness against their opponents.
Despite these hurdles, Tottenham remains focused on their objectives for the season. The team will need to rely on its depth and resilience to overcome these obstacles and perform at its best in upcoming matches.
