Kyle Walker justifies his world record move to Manchester City

London, Sep 3: Manchester City new signing Kyle Walker has claimed that playing for Pep Guardiola and a to experience a new challenge is the reason why he moves to Manchester.

The 27-year-old switch from north London to Manchester in July to become the most costly defender in world football for a record £45million, which could rise to £50million through add ons which ended his eight-year stay at the club.

Walker lost his place to Kieran Trippier in the last quarter of the season, allegedly for a fallout with manager Pochettino however, in a recent interview the England right-back has claimed that it is nothing to do with competition with Trippier and he joined City over the summer hoping to help both his club career and England's chances of success.

He said: "I thought about what I was wanting to do with my career. Tripps was a great competitor at Spurs for me, but I wanted to give myself something new.

"Going to City was the right step, working with the manager, him passing on some of the experience he's gained from working with players.

"It's good for Tripps to get regular football, and it's good for me and, hopefully, England too."

"The main objective is, at the end of the season, to be on the plane to Russia and represent my country at a World Cup," he added. "I've missed out once before. It's important to be on the plane, wearing the badge and playing games.

"England is as important as ever.

"You go to your club every day, but when you come to England you have to be professional and put your England cap on.

"You're playing for your country. I don't know anyone, growing up, who doesn't want to represent their country."

Walker's debut at the Etihad Stadium got him a controversial red card however the defender started for England in their 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Malta on Friday.
