West Ham United have announced the acquisition of Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer. The defender, who previously played for Southampton, left the club after their relegation from the Premier League last season. Initially, Walker-Peters seemed poised to join Besiktas, but negotiations fell through when the Turkish side withdrew, citing delays in his medical examination.
Walker-Peters has now committed to West Ham with a three-year contract. "I'm really excited," he expressed. "It feels like it has been a long time coming. I've been linked with a move to the club in the past and I'm just happy to be here now." He also mentioned that discussions with Graham Potter significantly influenced his decision to join.

The 28-year-old is versatile, capable of playing both right-back and left-back positions. Last season, he started 33 matches for Southampton, although the team struggled significantly, securing only 12 points and setting a new record by being relegated with seven games remaining. This performance was close to Derby County's lowest points record of 11 in the 2007-08 season.
Walker-Peters shared his enthusiasm about joining West Ham: "He spoke about the family feel at the club, and that's what I'm all about. I'd like to think I'm going to be a good fit for West Ham." He aims to contribute positively and help achieve special things with the team.
West Ham had a challenging 2024-25 season, finishing in 14th place. They have made several squad changes this summer, including selling Mohammed Kudus. However, they have strengthened their lineup by signing Senegal international El Hadji Malick Diouf and making Jean-Clair Todibo's loan from Nice permanent.
Walker-Peters is eager to make an impact at West Ham: "I like to play with intensity, give my all in every game, and I want to try and achieve special things here." His debut could come soon as West Ham are set to face Manchester United at the MetLife Stadium next week.
With ambitions of winning trophies, Walker-Peters believes in Graham Potter's vision for creating something remarkable at West Ham. He hopes his addition will help realise these goals as he integrates into the team.
