Kylian Mbappe Drops Harassment Complaint Against PSG Ahead Of FIFA Club World Cup Semi-Final Clash

Just days before a high-stakes reunion with his former club, Kylian Mbappe has officially withdrawn his legal complaint against Paris Saint-Germain over alleged moral harassment.

The development comes ahead of Real Madrid's Club World Cup semifinal clash with PSG on Wednesday, adding a dramatic off-field twist to the highly anticipated encounter.

Mbappe's attorney, Pierre-Olivier Sur, confirmed the decision on Monday. "We are withdrawing our civil action," he told AFP, signaling the end of a complaint that had drawn widespread attention across the football world.

The legal case stemmed from events during the 2023-24 season, when Mbappe claimed PSG deliberately marginalized him after he refused to extend his contract. According to the complaint, the French forward was forced to train separately with players PSG intended to offload, in what was viewed as a tactic to pressure him into renewing his deal.

The controversial approach sparked backlash from the French players' union (UNFP), which filed a separate legal action in 2023 on behalf of multiple players who had experienced similar treatment. The union labeled the practice a form of professional isolation.

Mbappe was notably left out of PSG's pre-season tour of Asia in 2023 and also missed their season opener. However, following internal discussions, he was eventually reintegrated into the squad. Despite the rocky relationship, he completed the season before sealing a blockbuster move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.

Over his seven-year stint at PSG, Mbappe became the club's all-time top scorer with 256 goals in 308 matches. Ironically, after his departure, PSG went on to lift their first UEFA Champions League title, achieving the long-elusive European success that had eluded them during Mbappe's tenure.

While the harassment case is now closed, tensions between Mbappe and PSG remain unresolved. The 26-year-old forward is still seeking €55 million (approx. $64.4 million) in allegedly unpaid wages and bonuses - a separate legal matter that continues to unfold as both parties prepare for their off-field courtroom battle and on-field showdown.
