As the UEFA Champions League playoffs 2nd leg take centre stage, the flagship encounter is set to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday (February 19).
Real Madrid will host Manchester City in a crucial tie at the Spanish capital. With a 3-2 lead from Etihad, Los Blancos are expected to progress but any complacency will be punished by Pep Guardiola's men, who are by no means out of the contest.

Apart from the two colossal clubs colliding, it will also be a huge duel between two modern mavericks - Real's Kylian Mbappe and City's Erling Haaland.
Despite being a new signing, Mbappe has already made a mark at the Spanish club this season. He has netted 24 goals already across all competitions, four of which have arrived in the Champions League. On the other hand, Erling Haaland is a proven gladiator at Man City, and has been prolific this season as well, despite City's dismal outings. The Norwegian has scored 27 goals so far and scored a brace in the first leg as well.
| Player | Total Goals | UCL Goals | Goal/Minute | Rating (by Fotmob) |
| Kylian Mbappe | 24 | 4 | 123.54 | 7.7/10 |
| Erling Haaland | 27 | 8 | 113.96 | 7.6/10 |
Mbappe, now with Real Madrid, brings his agility, dribbling prowess, and finishing skills, making him a constant threat to City's defense. Mbappe scored a freak goal in Manchester last week, and has been prolific at the Bernabeu all season.
Conversely, Haaland, leading City's attack, is known for his strength, positioning, and clinical goal-scoring, posing significant challenges for Madrid's defenders. Haaland broke his scoring duck against Real in the last match and will be pivotal for City, especially in Madrid. With his goal-scoring instincts, the lanky striker has the ability to bring Man City back in the tie single-handedly.
Given both players' current form and their importance to their respective teams, the match is poised to be a showcase of elite football talent, with Mbappe and Haaland likely playing crucial roles in the outcome.
Kylian Mbappe's role will be to escalate the Real Madrid virility across the wing. The Frenchman - with his dribbling and skills can penetrate the Man City defence and create chances for teammates, or get a goal himself. And for the Spanish team, an early lead in the match may well be a telling factor.
For Haaland, the onus is much greater. The former Borussia Dortmund man needs to score as they chase the tie. City have looked a shadow of their own self this season and will have to play out of their skin to create trouble in Real Madrid's backline. Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden will be crucial and if the duo can find the Norwegian on a regular basis, he will find the back of the net.
