Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a move for Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi as they seek a replacement for departed Julian Alvarez.
Julian Alvarez left City to join Atletico Madrid this summer for €95 million. Alvarez left City winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and a Champions League in just two full years, scoring 36 goals and providing 18 assists in 103 appearances.

Undoubtedly his exit has left a crucial spot open in Pep Guardiola's squad. City now reportedly exploring the market for an attacker before the transfer window closes.
The transfer activity at City, which had been relatively quiet for much of June and July, has suddenly gained momentum, with significant developments expected in the coming days.
While the early summer saw only the arrival of Savinho and the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid, City's transfer dealings have picked up pace. One of the most notable moves is the potential return of Ilkay Gundogan, who is close to rejoining the club on a free transfer just a year after his departure to Barcelona.
In addition to bringing back Gundogan, City are also keen on bolstering their forward line, particularly after Alvarez's exit.
Kyogo Furuhashi, the prolific Celtic attacker, has emerged as a key target for Pep Guardiola's side. Furuhashi, who has been a standout performer for Celtic since he arrived from Vissel Kobe in 2021, is reportedly on City's shortlist, alongside another unnamed forward.
City are looking for a versatile forward who can provide reliable backup to Erling Haaland and fit seamlessly into the club's already formidable attacking setup. Furuhashi, who turns 30 later this season, is considered an experienced and competent prospect who could comfortably play a squad role at the Etihad Stadium.
Since joining Celtic, Furuhashi has made a significant impact, scoring 73 goals in 135 appearances and playing a pivotal role in the club's domestic success. He has won three Scottish Premiership titles and was the top scorer in the league during the 2022/23 season, also earning the PFA Scotland Players' Player of the Year award.
Furuhashi's versatility across the forward line is particularly appealing to Guardiola, especially with the news that City's young talent, Oscar Bobb, is expected to be sidelined until the New Year.
Furuhashi's ability to contribute in multiple attacking positions would provide much-needed depth to City's squad as they aim to defend their Premier League title.
