LA Galaxy Advance To Leagues Cup Quarter-Finals After Dominating 4-0 Win Over Santos Laguna

The LA Galaxy secured a spot in the Leagues Cup quarter-finals by defeating Santos Laguna 4-0. The Galaxy, who were fifth in their group with four points, scored three goals before half-time. Joseph Paintsil opened the scoring within the first minute. Santos Laguna, at the bottom of their group with no points, conceded two more quickly when Matheus Nascimento converted a Mauricio Cuevas cross and Maya Yoshida capitalised on a goalkeeping error.

Despite struggling in the MLS Western Conference, Greg Vanney's team found hope in their Leagues Cup performance. Nascimento completed the scoring in the 74th minute. The Galaxy will face CF Pachuca in the quarter-finals.

LA Galaxy Triumph Over Santos Laguna in Leagues Cup

In another match, FC Cincinnati lost 2-1 to Chivas Guadalajara at TQL Stadium after a thunderstorm delayed the game for about 90 minutes. Efrain Alvarez scored a penalty for Chivas in the 25th minute, and Armando Gonzalez added another goal in the 57th minute. Cincinnati's debutant Andres Davila scored shortly after coming on as a substitute but could not secure an equaliser.

The New York Red Bulls faced FC Juarez at Sports Illustrated Stadium, ending in a 1-1 draw that led to penalties. Dylan Nealis scored for the Red Bulls in the 47th minute, while Oscar Estupinan equalised for Juarez later on. The Red Bulls won 5-3 on penalties but did not advance past the group stage.

Sergio Ramos' Monterrey suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Charlotte FC due to second-half goals from Tyger Smalls and Bill Tuiloma. This result left Monterrey winless in their Leagues Cup campaign with two draws and one loss.

Colorado Rapids vs Cruz Azul

In an exciting match between Colorado Rapids and Cruz Azul, both teams ended regular time with a 2-2 draw before Cruz Azul won on penalties. Rafael Navarro gave Rapids an early lead, and Andreas Maxso added another from a free kick. However, Cruz Azul fought back to force penalties and won 5-4, though it wasn't enough for them to secure a top-four finish.
