Bengaluru, December 13: It has been reported of late that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could be on his way out of the club in January in search of regular first-team football as he sees his place in the England national team slip away ahead of the World Cup in Russia next sumer.
Recent reports suggest that the Englishman is pondering a move abroad next month in a bid to save his World Cup hopes with Valencia and Real Betis keen.
The striker has struggled for regular football under Jurgen Klopp since the last season as he looks to force his way back into the England reckoning before the World Cup.
The 28-year-old hitman is attracting interest from Spain with Real Betis and Valencia hoping to tempt the striker to move to La Liga on loan, according to the Daily Mail.
Sturridge had a poor record with injuries over the years but since the last season, he has hardly struggled with injury but he has struggled to make it to Jurgen Klopp's starting XI on a regular basis.
Klopp has been happy with the England international’s fitness, but Sturridge is still behind first-choice striker Roberto Firmino at Anfield.
Young Dominic Solanke has been pushing for starts of late and the former Chelsea and Manchester City hitman could find himself relegated to third-choice and his place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad in serious jeopardy.
Southgate has held firm on his stance of picking players who are playing regular football for their clubs and axed Sturridge from his last squad for the glamour games against Germany and Brazil.
Liverpool are in a tricky position as Klopp knows that Sturridge needs more playing time but is hesitant to lose a player of his caliber.
Sturridge is contracted at Anfield until the summer of 2019 and with the return to fitness of Danny Ings and Adam Lallana, the Spanish sides hope the Merseysiders will not stand in the forward’s way and allow him to move to La Liga.
