Terrassa (Barcelona), November 21: With 32 teams for the World Cup settled, La Liga will have 100 players competing for various national squads in Russia 2018, two more if those from lower divisions (La Liga 1, 2, 3) are added.

In total, up to 23 national teams will have a footballer from the Spanish leagues.

La Liga giants Barcelona (16) and Real Madrid (14) are the clubs that will potentially provide the most players, while Atletico and Sevilla will have 10 and seven respectively- according to a report in Spanish website Marca.

Although all La Liga teams start with options of being represented in Russia 2018, Alaves will have to wait for the status of Munir to be resolved with Morocco.

The South American teams are, with the obvious exception of Chile, represented with the most La Liga players.

Argentina and Uruguay are the true reflection of their domination. Jorge Sampaoli's La Albiceleste side have Messi, Mascherano, Angel Correa, Garay, Mercado, Banega and Roncaglia.

The former Sevilla coach may also take Pizarro, Joaquin Correa and Rulli to Russia, though their participation is yet to be decided.

Uruguay, meanwhile, will have Stuani, Maxi Gomez, Rolan, Luis Suarez, Fede Valverde, Lemos, Godin and Gimenez, and Ricca could join this list depending on how he does throughout the season.

Brazil and Colombia players Marcelo, Casemiro, Bacca and Muriel will be keen to make amends as teams from CONMEBOL has not lifted the trophy since the 2002 World Cup co-hosted by World Cup Korea and Japan.

In Europe, it is France who are the main representatives in La Liga after the Spanish team, and up to eight from the league might play for Les Bleus in Russia.

At the other end of the scale are England who are the only top squad that does not have a La Liga player within their ranks.

Despite not competing in the top flight, three players from the Segunda Division are contesting for a place in the World Cup.

Munir, Danny Carvajal and Johansson, from Numancia, Albacete and Oviedo respectively, have options to go to Russia with Morocco, Costa Rica and Iceland.
