La Liga review: Another milestone for Sergio Ramos

Bengaluru, February 12: The week that went by in La Liga was a dramatic one which saw Real Madrid, Barcelona and Getafe keep up the pace at the top, Serio Ramos adding another feather to his cap and the date of the second El Clasico of the season getting confirmed.

The top three all won, meaning that the top of the La Liga table remains as it was.

Real Madrid, who beat Osasuna 4-1, are first, Barcelona, who picked up a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Betis, are second and Getafe in third after an impressive 3-0 win over Valencia.

By playing in Real Madrid's win at Osasuna, Ramos made his 440th appearance for Real Madrid in the Spanish top flight, overtaking Fernando Hierro in the club's all-time league appearances list. The man from Sevilla now moves into the club's all-time top five, behind only Iker Casillas, Manuel Sanchis, Raul and Santillana.

The date and kick-off time for the next El Clasico has been finalised. The highly-awaited clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona has been set for March 1, 9pm local time (March 2, 1.30am IST).

With both these sides sitting in the top two positions in La Liga, the result of their meeting at the Santiago Bernabeu could go a long way to deciding the champion at the end of the season.

Thibaut Courtois, the Belgium international stopper has been adjudged as the Player of the Month for January in La Liga after a stellar month between the sticks for Real Madrid.

Courtois was up against CA Osasuna's Sergio Herrero and RCD Espanyol's David Lopez, taking the gong with his side sitting pretty at the top of the La Liga.
