Chennaiyin FC have secured their third signing for the 2024-25 season, adding defender Laldinpuia on a three-year contract.
The 27-year-old from Mizoram is versatile, capable of playing in both defence and midfield. He joins the Marina Machans after an impressive stint with Jamshedpur FC.

Laldinpuia made his Indian Super League (ISL) debut with Jamshedpur under Owen Coyle in 2022. He was part of the team that won the ISL League Shield the same year. After a moderate last season with the Steel Miners, the defender has joined with his old manager for the upcoming season.
"In Laldinpuia we have got an incredible center back on the back of a great season on our hands. I have worked with him briefly and I'm confident he will be well-loved amongst the squad," Chennaiyin FC head coach Coyle said.
The talented footballer has a deep understanding of Coyle's playing style, having previously played under him. He is expected to play a crucial role upon reuniting with the Scotsman at Chennaiyin.
"When they told me that they were interested in me, I was very excited to join the club. A big team and the coach is also a good coach, I know his system and all so I can play under him," Laldinpuia said to the club.
Laldinpuia has played 35 matches over the past three ISL seasons. He recorded 37 interceptions and 15 blocks, marking him as a standout performer for Jamshedpur last season.
Laldinpuia began his career with Chhinga Veng FC in the I-League second division in 2019. He later played for Aizawl FC in the I-League before moving to the ISL.
The signing of Laldinpuia adds depth and experience to Chennaiyin FC's squad as they prepare for the upcoming season. He is the third signing of the club, and interestingly, the previous two CFC signings Elsinho and Jitendra Singh have also joined them from Jamshedpur FC.
