Lauren James Commits Future To Chelsea With 2030 Contract Extension

Lauren James has extended her Chelsea contract to 2030, keeping the forward at the club beyond 2027. She has recorded 31 goals in 105 appearances, winning multiple domestic trophies, and will chase further success as Chelsea Women push for more silverware in the coming seasons.

Chelsea confirm that Lauren James has signed a new contract that runs until 2030. The 24-year-old forward’s previous deal ended in 2027, but the extension secures four additional years. The announcement arrives ahead of Chelsea’s League Cup final against Manchester United on Sunday.

James came through Chelsea’s youth system, then spent three seasons with Manchester United before returning in 2021. Since rejoining, James has scored 31 goals in 105 games. During this spell, James has lifted four Women’s Super League titles and three FA Cups, and now targets a second League Cup.

Injuries have affected James over recent campaigns, limiting availability at key moments. During Chelsea’s domestic treble-winning season last term, James featured in only 17 matches. Despite those setbacks, James remains a central attacking option, and Chelsea have moved to secure long-term continuity in that area.

The contract extension reflects James’s influence for Chelsea in major domestic competitions. The figures below highlight appearances, goals and main trophies since James returned to the club in 2021.

James expressed clear satisfaction after confirming the long-term agreement. "I'm really happy and over the moon to have signed a new contract with Chelsea," said James. "It's been my club since I was young. I can't wait to make more memories, hopefully have more success and win more trophies with this amazing club."

Chelsea highlighted the news on social media, sharing video content featuring James following the announcement. The club’s official women’s account underlined that James is committed to the team for the long term.

The agreement also arrives in the same week that Lauren’s brother Reece James signs a new contract with Chelsea’s men’s team. "Im really pleased for Reece too, as hes also signed a new contract with Chelsea. Its always been his dream to stay here as well," added Lauren James. "Its not been an easy journey for either of us. Its taken a lot of hard work and sacrifices for us to get to this point, and were very grateful that we are here now, and we are extending our stay."

With both James siblings now tied to long-term Chelsea contracts, the club secures two key players for future seasons. Lauren James will aim to build on domestic success, manage fitness more consistently, and add further trophies, starting with the League Cup final against Manchester United.
