Inter Milan, the current Scudetto champions, are grappling with injuries and a recent Champions League defeat. They face a crucial match against Lazio to keep pace with Serie A leaders Atalanta. Atalanta leads the standings with 34 points, two ahead of Napoli, managed by Antonio Conte. Inter and Fiorentina trail closely behind with 31 points each.

Inter's recent 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen ended their impressive 573-minute streak without conceding in the Champions League. Nordi Mukiele's late goal marked a disappointing trip for Simone Inzaghi's team, who failed to register a shot on target for the first time since February 2022. Atalanta aims to make history with another victory at Cagliari on Saturday.
