Lazio began their Serie A season with a 3-1 win over newly promoted Venezia. Magnus Kofod Andersen gave Venezia an early lead just three minutes in, but Lazio quickly responded. Valentin Castellanos equalised eight minutes later, and captain Mattia Zaccagni's penalty on the stroke of half-time put Lazio ahead.Zaccagni's penalty marked his 35th direct goal contribution in Serie A since the 2021-22 season, second only to Antonio Candreva among midfielders. Despite Venezia's seven shots in the second half, their hopes were dashed when Giorgio Altare scored an own goal late in the game.Roma, Lazio's city rivals, had a less successful start to their campaign. They played out a goalless draw against Cagliari, with both teams hitting the woodwork during the match. This result left both sides sharing the points in a tightly contested encounter. In another match, Udinese secured a credible draw away at Bologna. Vincenzo Italiano's first competitive game as Bologna's manager saw his team dominate with 22 shots compared to Udinese's four. Riccardo Orsolini scored from the penalty spot to give Bologna the lead.Orsolini became the second Bologna player to score in seven different Serie A seasons in the last 50 years, following Carlo Nervo who achieved this between 1996-97 and 2003-04. However, Udinese equalised through Lautaro Giannetti in the 68th minute and held on for a draw.
