Sunderland's manager, Regis Le Bris, has urged his team to be more clinical in front of goal following their narrow 1-0 loss to Sporting CP. The match, which concluded their pre-season camp in Portugal, was decided by Francisco Trincao's early goal. Despite the defeat, Sunderland showed promise, particularly in the first half with Eliezer Mayenda posing a significant threat.
Mayenda had a chance to equalise midway through the first half but missed after an accurate cross from Enzo Le Fee. In both halves, Le Bris opted for different line-ups, similar to their previous draw with Sevilla. New signings Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Chemsdine Talbi, and Simon Adingra gained valuable playing time during the match.

Le Bris expressed satisfaction with the team's energy and intentions but highlighted the need for improvement in finishing chances. "It was two different halves again because we split the group," he noted after the match. "The intentions were good again, and the energy of the squad was really interesting."
With a fixture against Hearts approaching, Le Bris remains optimistic about his team's progress. He stressed the importance of learning from mistakes made during these matches. "We struggled a bit in the first half and conceded a goal with the only opportunity they had," he explained. "It is better to make that mistake right now so we can understand how we want to defend against this kind of squad."
Meanwhile, Brighton also wrapped up their pre-season campaign with a victory over Las Palmas in Spain. They secured a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Matt O'Riley and Yasin Ayari. However, midfielder Facundo Buonanotte suffered an injury early in the second half.
Le Bris emphasised that being clinical will be crucial for Sunderland this season. "We created some good chances, but unfortunately we didn't score," he said. "It is really important now that when you're creating chances, you are clinical as well." As Sunderland prepares for their upcoming matches, refining their attacking play remains a priority for success in the Premier League.
