The Leagues Cup 2025 is the fifth edition of this annual club tournament officially sanctioned by CONCACAF, bringing together the best from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX.

Marked by fierce rivalry and interleague bragging rights, this year introduces a newly enhanced format with 36 teams, featuring more cross-border clashes and opportunities for top teams to advance to continental competitions. The tournament runs from July 29 to August 31, 2025, with 62 matches played across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The top three finishers will secure automatic berths in the 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Leagues Cup 2025 Teams

A total of 36 teams compete:

MLS: The top 18 clubs from the 2024 MLS season qualify, including the newly established San Diego FC, who replace Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Liga MX: All 18 clubs from Mexico’s top-flight Liga MX participate.

These clubs are chosen based on their previous season standings to ensure the highest level of competition.

Leagues Cup 2025 Group Structure

Two regions: Eastern and Western (each with 18 teams; 9 MLS and 9 Liga MX per region).
Three tiers in each region:
- Tier 1: Teams ranked 1–3 from each league in the region.
- Tier 2: Ranked 4–6.
- Tier 3: Ranked 7–9.
Each group consists of one team from each league and each tier, optimizing MLS vs. Liga MX matchups in the group phase.
All teams play three group matches. After the round robin, the top two teams per group advance to the knockout rounds.
