Lebanon and Bangladesh will kick off their SAFF Championship 2023 campaign as they face off in the Group B opener at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday (July 22, 2023). The other two teams in the groups are Maldives and Bhutan, who square off in the next game later in the day.

That's all from our Live coverage of Bangladesh vs Lebanon match as World No. 99 Lebanon defeated World No. 192 Bangladesh by a comfortable margin of 2-0. At one stage it looked like Bangladesh may pull out a draw but Maatouk and Bader ensured Lebanon win with two late goals. MyKhel will continue coverage of SAFF Championships with the next match being India vs Nepal on June 24 while Maldives vs Bhutan is scheduled later this evening at 7:30 PM IST. This is your host Aditya K Halder wishing you bye for now!
And the referee blows the final whistle soon after! A complete domination by the second-highest ranked team of the tournament! Substitute and skipper Hasan Maatouk scored the much-needed opener after many wasteful chances while Ali Baader then sealed the win deep in the injury time to make it a worthy 2-0 win. Bangladesh have a lot to work on if they wish to progress further in the SAFF Championship 2023.
Khalil Bader doubles the lead for Lebanon after Bangladesh were caught off guard on the counter! Bader just had to push it in after Farran did the hard work of running down the flank and square it to Bader for a tap in. Interestingly the goal came after Bangladesh shot blank despite finding space on the counter!

Lebanon striker Darwich is stretchered off the field following a cramp! Seems a bit exaggerated as we see time and again in the injury minutes when a team is leading.
Rakib wins a corner for Bangladesh on the right flank after a darting run. That's the best he could do as Lebanon's defenders already crowded the box before he could deliver a cross.
The match official adds six minutes of injury time upon completion of 90 minutes. Bangladesh, however, are struggling to create chances since conceding the opener as Lebanon are trying to see out the remaining minutes.

Bangladesh coach Cabrera throws in the kitchen sink with his fourth substitution as Mohammad Islam comes in for Sohel Rana in attack! Time is ticking away from Bangladesh!

Hasan Maatouk was influential player during the Intercontinental Cup in Bhubaneswar too and had to be the man to seal the win for Lebanon in SAFF Championship opener too after their forwards were wasteful throughout the game.
Skipper Hassan Maatouk puts Lebanon at front! A costly error by Bangladesh error as striker Hakim Darwich took the ball away from Bangladesh centre-back following a bad pass by the goalkeeper. Darwich then played Maatouk free for the skipper to put the ball calmly past the Anisur Rahman at the 80th minute. Bangladesh have 10 minutes and stoppage time to draw level.
Bangladesh resort to keeping possession for the first time in the game after they failed to catch Lebanon on the counter. A futile effort with the possession too as they gave it away with a throw ball near the half line.
A Substitution each from both sides! For Bangladesh, Rakib Hossain comes in on the wings for Mohammad Fahim.
Back-to-back yellow cards in the match! The first one is shown to Ali Tneich for a tactical foul to stop a Bangladesh counterattack. Two minutes later Bangladesh's Biswanath Ghosh tackles Darwich from behind for a similar offence.
Despite all the attack by Lebanon, Bangladesh have looked lively in the attack in the last five minutes with at least three counter-attacking opportunities but the quality of delivery and finishing have let the side down so far! Lebanon are still the favourite to score unless they don't make their chances count.
Lebanon forward Darwich with an audacious bicycle kick attempt but failed to connect with the ball! The attack came down the left flank as Maatouk provided a telling cross after being fed by Dakramanji
BANGLADESH MISS CHANCE OF THE MATCH! Winger Faheem ran free on the right wing and had only the goalkeeper to beat but Ali Al Sabba came off his line to make himself big and make that crucial save! End-to-end stuff at the moment!
Roll of the dice by Bangladesh coach Cabrera as he makes three changes all together before the hour mark!
Lebanon skipper Maatouk hits the ball off target! But what a build-up by Lebanon as the entire forward line of Kourani, Farran, Dakramanji and Maatouk were involved in an intricate play build over short passes. Bangladesh defence looked nervous as Lebanon attack found space in short spaces. More of that and we may soon see the first goal.
Bangladesh with a counter-attack as Fahim is fed on the right flank but Lebanon fell back in numbers to guard the box. The Bangladesh winger ran out of ideas and made a wild attempt off target from outside the box. Sums up Bangladesh's performance in attack so far.
Farran with a shot on target! But from a tight angle as Anisur Rahman jumped to his left to make a diving save. Both substitutes have already made things difficult for Bangladesh.
Skipper Hasan Maatouk with his first impact of the game for Lebanon as he finds space to Mahadi Zein's through ball on left flank but the attacking midfield was caught offside.

Players are back on the field for the second half with Lebanon making two changes at the half time. Skipper Hassan Maatouk joining the midfiled while Zein Farran will replace Saadek for extra help on the wings.
Lebanon winger Al Haj and Kourani were the dangermen in the first half as they exploited the space on the flanks time and again with fullbacks Mahadi Zein and Dakramanji providing support. They limited Bangladesh's ability to attack from the flanks as their wingers had to fall back and help the defence. Bangladesh coach Javier Fernández Cabrera often looked frustrated with the way his side performed and may not be saying kind words to his players in the locker room at the moment.
The referee blows the half time whistle aftere two minutes of stoppage time. The first half was completely dominated by Lebanon, who kept getting closer to the goal as the match progressed while Bangladesh had little to show in the attack. Bangladesh goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico had a busy time as he made several saves including one on the goal-line to keep Bangladesh in the game.
Big save by Bangladesh goalkeeper Rahman off the goal line after Hasan Kourani found space inside the box. Lebanon kept Bangladesh's defence on toes with back-to-back attacks right after but the men in green held on.
Lebanon right back Mahdi Zein makes a overlapping run with acres of space to run into and provides an early cross as well into the box but none of his teammates could reach the ball as the chance goes begging.
Bangladesh have struggled to create any chance in the opening 30 minutes, Lebanon goalkeeper Ali Al Sabah is having it easy at the moment.
Lebanon, playing in red, are seeing most of the possession now while Bangladesh are happy to defend with a back line of four while the midfield lines are stretched. That could provide the space Lebanon are looking for to shoot from outside the box.
Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of Lebanon vs Bangladesh match in Group B of SAFF Championship. The action from the first half is underway with Lebanon seeing the first clear-cut chance of the match so far
Lebanon are coming into the game after finishing runners-up in the Intercontinental Cup 2023 in Bhubaneswar last Sunday to host India in a 0-2 defeat. The second highest-ranked side of the tournament, Lebanon are worried about their form with just one win in their last four games with the last coming against lowly Vanuatu in a 3-1 win in Bhubaneswar.
Lebanon, however, are better off for the game as coach Aleksandar Ilic-led side have a full-strength squad for the SAFF Championship while the entire squad wasn't available for the tournament before due to visa issues.
For Bangladesh, they come into the tournament with a win in their last game as they defeated Cambodia 1-0 last Thursday. Mojibur Rahman Jony scored the winner for them in the first half. Bangladesh have called up a 23-man squad for the SAFF Championship with midfielder Jamal Bhuyan as the star presence in the line-up. Mitul Marma and Isa Faysal are the two uncapped players in the squad.
This is the third that Lebanon and Bangladesh national teams will face off with the head-to-head tied at 1 win each. Their last encounters came during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in 2011 when Lebanon beat Bangladesh 4-0 in the home leg before Bangladesh won the return leg 2-0.
