Lecce's President, Saverio Sticchi Damiani, has stated that the club is striving to withstand Manchester United's pressure to acquire Patrick Dorgu in January. Reports suggest that both the Red Devils and Serie A powerhouse Juventus are interested in the versatile player this month. Dorgu, a 20-year-old Dane, has played 23 matches across various competitions this season, contributing three goals and one assist.
During Lecce's recent 4-0 loss to Inter, Dorgu stood out by winning more tackles and fouls than any of his teammates. His performance has caught the attention of top European clubs. "There are a series of situations in progress to complete the squad," said President Sticchi Damiani to Sky Sport Italia. "We are trying to resist, as is logical, because it is in our interest to keep the players who are protagonists of this group."

Manchester United's interest in Dorgu comes as they seek enhancements at left-wing back. Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have led Diogo Dalot to fill that role frequently. Despite having bids rejected by Lecce, United remains keen on securing Dorgu's services. Ruben Amorim's side reportedly sees potential in the young player's abilities.
Dorgu has excelled in Serie A under Marco Giampaolo's management. He shares the highest number of completed dribbles with Nikola Krstovic and Tete Morente for Lecce this season. Only Antonino Gallo surpasses him in chance creation, with Gallo having made 26 opportunities compared to Dorgu's 19.
Sticchi Damiani acknowledged that while they aim to retain their key players, a transfer could occur if Manchester United meets their valuation for Dorgu. "So far, our idea is to not sell anyone in January," he mentioned. The club values its current squad members who have been pivotal this season.
The ongoing interest from major clubs highlights Dorgu's rising profile within European football circles. As January progresses, it remains uncertain whether Lecce will maintain their stance or negotiate a deal that satisfies all parties involved.
