Joel Piroe's two goals propelled Leeds United to the top of the Championship with a 2-0 win over Stoke City. Earlier, Sheffield United's 2-0 loss to Burnley allowed Daniel Farke's team to seize the lead on goal difference. Both goalkeepers were busy in the first half, with Illan Meslier and Viktor Johansson stopping efforts from Lewis Koumas and Brenden Aaronson.

Leeds missed a clear chance when Manor Solomon volleyed Daniel James' cross wide. However, they took the lead three minutes before halftime as Piroe scored from a tight angle. Piroe secured his second goal in the 63rd minute, heading in another cross from James, ensuring Stoke remained winless in nine games.

West Bromwich Albion, without a manager, failed to reclaim a playoff spot after losing 2-1 to Derby County. With Chris Brunt, Damia Abella, and Boaz Myhill temporarily in charge following Carlos Corberan's move to Valencia, West Brom conceded first.
