Leicester City Faces Chelsea In Women's Super League: Match Predictions For December 2023

As the Women's Super League approaches its winter break, Chelsea looks to extend their winning streak against Leicester City. With a high probability of victory, insights reveal key player performances and match expectations.

This weekend, the Women's Super League will see its final matches before the winter break. Chelsea aims to maintain their flawless start at the top of the table when they face Leicester City on Saturday. Under Sonia Bompastor, Chelsea has won all 14 matches across competitions. They lead Manchester City by five points, and Gareth Taylor's team might fall further behind when they play Everton on Sunday.

Arsenal is set to defend their unbeaten streak under interim coach Renee Slegers against Liverpool. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace, at the bottom of the table, will host Manchester United. Brighton and Hove Albion, who surprised many this season, hope to recover from a 4-2 defeat to Chelsea as they welcome Tottenham to Broadfield Stadium.

Leicester City vs Chelsea: WSL Match Preview

Chelsea's visit to Leicester could see them become the first team in WSL history to win their first 10 games of a season. The Blues have an impressive record against Leicester, winning all six previous meetings and scoring over six goals per game in the last five encounters. Aggie Beever-Jones is a player to watch with 17 WSL goals.

Leicester has struggled offensively this season, failing to score in seven matches. Only one team has scored fewer goals through nine WSL games than Leicester's two this term. The Opta supercomputer gives Chelsea an 83.1% chance of victory, while Leicester has just a 7.6% probability of winning.

Brighton seeks redemption after a strong performance against Chelsea in their last league match. A win would elevate them to third place before Sunday's games. However, Brighton hasn't beaten Tottenham in their last five WSL meetings since October 2021 under Hope Powell.

Brighton remains unbeaten at home this season with four wins and one draw from five matches. Nine penalties have been awarded in games involving either Brighton or Spurs this term. Kiko Seike leads Brighton's scoring with five goals from just 15 shots.

Everton vs Man City: A Formidable Task

Manchester City looks forward to visiting Walton Hall Park for Sunday's first match against Everton. City has won more away games against Everton than any other team in the WSL and are favourites with a 73.8% win probability according to the supercomputer.

Everton secured their only league win this season in their most recent home game against Liverpool and aim for consecutive home victories for the first time since January 2023. City's 'Bunny' Shaw leads the Golden Boot race with nine goals so far.

Aston Villa vs West Ham: Battling Near the Bottom

Aston Villa hosts West Ham at Villa Park as both teams hover above relegation danger. Villa sits ninth with six points, just behind eighth-placed West Ham by two points. Villa seeks back-to-back home wins for the first time after defeating Crystal Palace 3-2 recently.

The match marks Jordan Nobbs' milestone as she reaches her 200th WSL appearance. The Opta supercomputer favours Villa with a 53.2% chance of victory over West Ham's 22.8% probability.

Crystal Palace vs Man Utd: Uphill Battle for Palace

Crystal Palace faces Manchester United for their first league meeting since the 2018-19 Championship season when United won decisively both times. Palace is expected to remain at the bottom during Christmas with only a 13.6% chance of winning according to predictions.

United boasts a perfect record against newly promoted teams in the WSL, winning all ten such games while scoring 29 goals and conceding just once.

Liverpool vs Arsenal: Gunners on a Roll

The weekend concludes with Arsenal visiting Liverpool under interim coach Renee Slegers' guidance following Jonas Eidevall's departure. Arsenal has won three consecutive league games and aims for four straight victories for the first time since December 2023.

Liverpool manager Matt Beard faces Arsenal again after losing numerous times against them with different clubs including Liverpool itself previously seven times alone! Alessia Russo poses significant threat having scored four consecutive WSL matches recently aiming fifth straight goal now!
