Leicester City interested in Premier League duo

With just three days left in the transfer window, Leicester City are set to move for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and Liverpool defender Mamdou Sakho.

Leicester City interested in PL duo

London, August 29: Leicester City are reportedly interested in making an audacious move for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.

The Foxes have already signed Harry Maguire, 24, from relegated Hull City this summer but the boss Craig Shakespeare wants Smalling to add experience to his backline.

Smalling has won 31 caps for the Three Lions over the years and is still just 27 years old and has plenty of football left in his locker and it would be a smart move from the Foxes should they get the deal done.

The two-time Premier League winner, 27, has fallen down the pecking order under manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford with the big-money arrivals of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, and can potentially leave before Thursday's 11pm deadline.

However, Mourinho might not entertain any offer for Smalling as he always likes to have depth in his squad. We all know Manchester United have poor luck with injuries and the Englishman could be useful in the long course of the season due to that.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s reports have started linking Leicester City with a move for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho who seems like a more realistic option as Jurgen Klopp is clearly not a fan of the Frenchman.

Liverpool are expected to ship Sakho off this summer but have been holding out for a big fee for the former PSG skipper. We have to wait and see if Leicester City can match Liverpool’s demands for the 27-year-old defender.

With just three days left before the summer transfer window slams shut, we can expect plenty of action from the English clubs to take place. Liverpool, especially, looking to be on a roll right now which will certainly appease the fans.
