Bengaluru, December 14: Chelsea youngster Kyle Scott has hit a roadblock over a new contract and Leicester City along with Huddersfield look to pounce on the situation.
The flamboyant 19-year-old midfielder was denied a loan move to Reading on deadline day as Chelsea struggled to tie down a deal for Danny Drinkwater.
The youngster is yet to make his Blues first-team bow but featured for the under-21’s in the impressive 4-0 Checkatrade trophy win at MK Dons earlier this month.
The Cobham academy product was on the bench for the opening two Premier League games of the campaign and the League Cup win at home to Everton.
Scott has 18 months left on his current deal and Chelsea are keen on tying him down with a long-term contract as they view him as a huge prospect for the future.
It is believed that money is not the issue for the teenager. Rather, the youngster believes he is at a juncture of his career where he needs to be playing regular first-team football to fulfil his potential which he is not getting at Chelsea.
Leicester City are looking to add a creative midfielder to their ranks and have identified Scott as a long-term prospect at the King Power stadium.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield boss David Wagner is keen to work with younger players as the Yorkshire side look to maintain Premier League status and plan beyond this season.
Chelsea have produced some of the biggest talents in English football in recent years but they have poor reputation when it comes to pushing them to the first-team fold at the right moment.
In the process, they have lost players like De Bruyne, Lukaku, Bertrand and many more. Kyle Scott could be the latest name to move out of Stamford Bridge in search of regular first-team football which will be a further blow to Chelsea's academy.
