Lennart Karl is targeting a place in Germany's World Cup squad after a breakthrough year with Bayern Munich, with the forward turning 18 on Sunday and gaining attention during this campaign through regular appearances and important goals for the Bundesliga champions.
Karl has scored seven goals and supplied three assists in 31 matches this season, giving Bayern another option in attack and placing Karl fourth on the club's scoring chart, which has increased discussion about a potential call from Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Back in October, Karl became Bayern's youngest scorer in the Champions League when netting against Club Brugge at 17 years and 242 days, surpassing Jamal Musiala's mark, and at 17 years and 290 days became the competition's youngest player to score in three straight appearances.
Karl's form has led many to back the forward for a seat on Germany's plane to the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Karl told Kicker that there has been no direct dialogue with Nagelsmann. "For me, the only thing that counts is giving everything at Bayernonly then can I hope for a call-up,"
Karl says Bayern performances remain the priority despite attention around Germany selection and views any national team role as a reward for consistent club form, explaining that "Anyone who doesn't hope for something like that has no place in football." "Of course, there's always more to achieve. Hopefully, I can score more goals, provide more assists and deliver even better performances."
