Leroy Sane set to be offered new deal at Manchester City

Sane is expected to be handed fresh terms at the end of the season, upping his wages to around £80,000 a week.

Manchester, November 29: Flamboyant German winger Leroy Sane is set to be rewarded for his stunning start to the season with a new Manchester City mega-deal.

The 21-year-old is currently one of the lowest paid players in the Manchester City squad, on a wage of just £60,000 a week.

Sane is expected to be handed fresh terms at the end of the season, upping his wages to around £80,000 a week. But the manager Pep Guardiola wants to tie down Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Fernandinho to long-term contracts first.

Sane, who has three and a half years left on his deal, has been sensational so far this campaign, already scoring eight times.

An Etihad source said: “Leroy will be rewarded for his performances with a new deal next summer.

“He has to bide his time for now as he is behind De Bruyne, Silva and Fernandinho in terms of what the club want to address.

“He is one of the lowest-paid in the team, but will get a nice bump up to start matching the others.

“The club want him to concentrate on his football for now and then it will be spoken about once we get towards the end of the season.”

Manchester City are looking to give a number of their young starlets new contracts once this campaign is over. Sane and Gabriel Jesus are viewed as the priorities alongwith Raheem Sterling who has been sensational this season.

The German winger joined Guardiola’s side from Schalke on a five-year deal for £37million in the summer of 2016 and since then, he has made 38 Premier League appearances for City and scored eight eleven goals.

Sane’s excellent displays this season must have alerted sides like Barcelona and Real Madrid, and the Cityzens must ensure they can keep their prized asset content to keep him away from the clutches of the Spanish giants.
