The Liga MX Clausura regular season has come to an end as all the teams completed their 17 matches of the season.
Club America finished at the top of the table with 35 points in 17 matches, whereas Cruz Azul finished closed 2nd with 33 points.

As per the new Liguilla (Playoffs) rule in Mexican Football, 10 teams advance to the next round. The first six teams advance to the quarterfinals directly. The 9th place team hosts the 10th place team in an elimination game. The 7th hosts the 8th place team in the qualifier tie, with the winner advancing as the 7th team in the quarterfinals. The loser of this game then hosts the winner of the elimination game between the 9th and 10th place teams to determine the final team.
Necaxa won their match against Queretaro in the first eliminator. On the other hand, Pumas UNAM beat Pachuca to qualify as the 7th team. Pachuca then took on Necaxa in the final liguilla match and won 2-1 to qualify as the 8th team in the quarterfinals.
In the Quarterfinals, the 8 teams will play in a two-legged affair. Pumas, who qualified as the 7th team, will take on the 2nd placed Cruz Azul in the quarterfinal. Club America will face the 8th team Pachuca in the tie.
