Paris Saint-Germain are set to put off any further contract extension talks of both superstars Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos amid concerns over fresh Champions League sanctions.
PSG could face further sanctions from UEFA for the financial fair play breaches as per rumors. They have already been hit with a €10million fine for their 2020-21 season accounts with a €45m suspended fine for future breaches.
However, it is understood that further punishments are still a possibility. Added penalties can see the club stop adding any new players to their European squad for the upcoming campaign and possibly reduce the size of their registered squad for European competition from 25 to 23. An exit from European competition is also a distant possibility.
As a result, the club is apparently looking to cut costs keeping it all in mind. The French giants have been posting record losses in recent years with their most recent set of accounts showing €370m in losses. The early exit from the round of 16 in hands of Bayern Munich have made life even harder for themselves. They are currently working to drastically cut expenses and adhere to financial requirements by restructuring their team.
Kylian Mbappe is the highest earner on the side however the French side is willing to go ahead with him leading from the front with his existing deal. But the club could make tough financial decisions on two of their highest-earning stars Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos by not renewing their deal.

Messi and Ramos both have been pretty influential for PSG in the ongoing campaign and practically it is tough for any player to match their usual standard.
However, to balance the books their position could be sacrificed. With mastermind Luis Campos on recruiting and advisory board, the club could withdraw its stance on signing galacticos instead they are likely to invest in potential, younger, and cheaper names.
If some rumors are to be believed, the club is already tracking two defenders to replace Sergio Ramos. Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar is anticipated to join the French giants on a free transfer from Inter Milan while Villareal defender Pau Torres is also linked with them.
Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is reportedly one of the potential options who could take Messi's position in the side. The Portuguese attacker is reportedly looking for a fresh challenge and could leave England next season.
PSG are apparently keeping an eye on him. Young sensation Ryan Cherki of Olympique Lyonnais is also one of the options they are interested in for the attacking midfield position.
