Lionel Messi reacts Shockingly on social media after Argentina's Olympics defeat

Argentina talisman Lionel Messi was furious by the result as Argentina lost to Morocco in their Olympics 2024 opener on Wednesday (July 24).

Argentina lost 1-2 to Morocco amid controversial circumstances. Los Albicelestes had a goal chalked off due to offside and were also subject to a crowd attack which saw the match getting halted for almost two hours.

Although the goal that got cancelled out was legitimate, attack on the players from the Moroccan fans has raised huge questions about the security of the players. And Messi was hugely disappointed with how things panned in France.

The Argentina captain, who recently won the Copa America, wrote a one-liner on his Instagram profile to give his verdict on the entire fiasco. The 37-year-old was clearly not happy with the refereeing and put a story on his Instagram profile writing 'Insolito', which means Unbelievable in Spanish.

The Argentina coach Javier Mascherano was also furious with the decision. He criticized the Olympics and raised legitimate questions on the pitch invasion.

"What happened on the pitch was a scandal. This isn't a neighbourhood tournament, this is the Olympic Games. How are they going to stop the match seven times in the second half because someone comes onto the pitch," Mascherano said.

The match got suspended after Argentina scored a last-gasp equalizer. The goal made the Moroccan fans angry and they started to invade the pitch and attack the Argentine players. The referee took both teams off the field and the final three minutes of the match were played without any crowd. But as it restarted, a VAR check took place and Argentina's goal was disallowed due to Bruno Amione's offside verdict.

The Argentine also confirmed that the match was suspended and even the official Olympics page showed a 2-2 scoreline. From there the VAR check came without any discussion with any of the Argentina staff.
