Lionel Messi will be gracing the soil of Kolkata in December as the Argentina star is likely to arrive at the City of Joy following Argentina's friendly match in Kerala.

The football legend is set to step foot in Kolkata and already the fans are counting the days in excitement. The Argentina international, who plays for Inter Miami in the MLS, has come to Kolkata before, when he played a friendly match against Venezuela more than a decade ago, 2011 to be precise.

But this time around, Messi's visit is a bit different. Apart from Messi, Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez came to Kolkata after their 2022 World Cup victory. But with the former Barcelona player coming, a host of activities and a felicitation programme are being prepared.

Lionel Messi reaches Kolkata in December

Lionel Messi will be arriving in Kolkata in mid-December, but the exact date is yet to be confirmed. He is likely to attend various events in the city. Apart from Kolkata, the Argentina star may visit to Delhi and Mumbai as well.

What will be the event in Kolkata for Lionel Messi?

As per reports, a gigantic felicitation programme is being prepared in Kolkata for the Inter Miami star. The felicitation is set to take place at the iconic Eden Gardens, where around 70,000 spectators will have the opportunity to witness the Argentine legend. There will also be a few GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) events.

GOAT Cup

A football match of 30 minutes, separated into halves of 15 minutes, is being prepared at the Eden Gardens. Lionel Messi is likely to take part in the early stages of the match, which will involve cricketers, footballers and probably a few celebrities as well.

GOAT Concert

A GOAT Concert will see musicians across the world performing at the Eden Gardens.

A session with Youngsters

Lionel Messi may also participate in a session with the budding footballers in the city. Although the activity is not confirmed, but it remains a possibility.
