After securing the coveted Supporters’ Shield Honours for 2024, Inter Miami is headed to the playoffs as the No.1 seed. After winning the title for the first time the Herons will aim to win the MLS Cup.
Inter Miami is also on the verge of making a record 74 points in a single regular season breaking the previous record set by New England Revolution in 2021. But before achieving this historic feat, another milestone has been reached in MLS history, as more than 11 million fans have attended the league this season, breaking the previous record of 10.9 million fans.

In this season, there were 23,340 fans on average in each game, making it reach the 11 million threshold for the first time in the history of the tournament.
The MLS has achieved three consecutive seasons with attendance numbers exceeding 10 million, signifying a substantial surge in popularity. This remarkable increase can be credited to the introduction of globally acclaimed players like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets into the league. Consequently, teams have relocated their matches to larger stadiums, directly influencing the rise in attendance.
The league announced, “The arrival of international stars and the work from clubs to create more unique fan-friendly ticket packages and game day experiences are among the key drivers of the continued surge of record-breaking attendance across MLS.”
The current record-breaking attendance of 11 million fans is expected to rise further as the season progresses. With 16 games remaining before the season concludes on October 19, the number of attendees is likely to continue increasing.
The Argentina star has played a key part in it as fans have flocked in across venues in the USA to see Messi. The Inter Miami skipper has also played a significant part in their MLS journey as the club won the Eastern Conference and the Supporters' Shield in 2024.
