Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has gifted customized gold iPhones for his World Cup-winning teammates and the support staff.
According to a report from 'The Sun', the Argentine ace placed a gift order worth £175,000 (Approximately Rs 1.73 crore) of 24-carat gold iPhones, and the order was delivered to his Paris apartment last weekend.
The customized gold iPhone 14s features every player's name, number and the Argentina logo engraved on the back of each device.
The report from the British Tabloid further quoted from a source that the two-time Golden Ball winner wanted to commemorate his team's historic achievement at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with something "special and blingy".
Messi, who was earlier this week voted the Best FIFA Men's Player 2022, got in contact with the CEO of smartphone customisation service IDESIGN Gold, Ben Lyons, who said this was in the pipleline since a month.
"Lionel is not only the Goat but he's one of IDESIGN GOLD's most loyal customers and got in touch with us a couple of months after the World Cup final," Lyons expalined how the two finalised the glittery Apple order.
"He said he wanted a special gift for all the players and staff to celebrate the amazing win but didn't want the usual gift of watches. "So, I suggested gold iPhones inscribed with their names and he loved the idea."
IDesign Gold also confirmed the delivery via their Instagram page by posting a photograph with Messi and the caption: "It was an honour to deliver 35 gold iphone 14 to @leomessi for his team mates & staff as a gift for winning the world cup final."
Here is a glimpse of how the customized gold iPhones look:
