Lionel Messi has reportedly set his sights on his next destination when his time at Inter Miami comes to an end.
Messi has been tipped to join a plethora of clubs after Inter Miami. Media reports have suggested the Argentina legend can leave for his boyhood club Newell's Old Boys, while a return to Europe is also on the cards.

And according to Argentine media personality and Messi's close family friend Yanina Latorre, the football icon has made it clear that his heart remains in the Catalan city where he spent the majority of his illustrious career.
Messi, who signed with Inter Miami in 2023, has just one season left on his contract with the Major League Soccer club. While Inter Miami hopes to extend his stay-especially with the move to their new Miami Freedom Park stadium in 2026, the Argentine legend appears to be making plans to return to Europe, specifically to Barcelona.
During a visit to Messi's Florida home, Latorre shared details of their conversation via La Nacion.
"He told me that when he finishes here [in Miami], where he is happy, he will return to Barcelona," Latorre revealed. When asked if he might consider staying in Miami longer, Messi reportedly responded, 'No, my place is there.'"
This revelation has reignited speculation about Messi's future after his tenure in the United States. Barcelona, where Messi spent over two decades and became one of the greatest players in football history, holds deep sentimental value for the 37-year-old.
His departure from the club in 2021 due to financial difficulties was an emotional moment for both Messi and Barcelona fans. A return would not only mark a homecoming but also provide an opportunity for Messi to end his career where it all began.
Despite Messi's intentions, Inter Miami co-owners David Beckham and Jorge Mas remain optimistic about keeping their star player beyond his current contract. Speaking in late 2023, Mas told ESPN, "Messi is under contract through 2025. Leo and I will sit and discuss the future. I fully expect that in the opening of our new stadium in 2026, Leo Messi will be our No. 10."
For now, Messi is focused on the upcoming challenges with Inter Miami, including their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer and preparations for the 2025 MLS season.
